Q. I use a screen reader. What do I need to do in order for it to read the book content?

Screen reader accessibility mode options for EBook Central and EBSCO ebooks.

Answer

Ebook Central (formerly called EBL) and EBSCO ebooks offer the option for accessibility mode, in which pages of books that are presented as text rather than images. Functions such as searching for a book or searching within a book you are reading will be optimized for screen reader use.

Ebook Central allows the use of screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, or Voice Over. There are instructions available for reading when you enter the page.

EBSCO tests specifically with the JAWS screen reader for online ebook support but also accepts a range of screen readers.

If you do not use a screen reader but need accessibility mode, please contact your library staff to request it.
